Get excited, Marvel fans, because there’s a new “Luke Cage” trailer out and it looks like the title character, played by Mike Colter, is just as kick-butt as his “Defenders” predecessors, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).

As “Jessica Jones” fans know, Cage is a reluctant superhero. “I’m still not sure what I am. I’m just living my life, day to day … I just want to be left the hell alone,” he says to his friend Pop (Frankie Faison) — but it looks like Pop might get shot up when some criminals open fire on the barbershop and that’s what sets Cage on his path.

As Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) says, “Sometimes if you want justice, you have to get it yourself.”

That sentiment is definitely in keeping with what head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb says the show is about.

Speaking to the 2016 TCA summer press tour, Loeb says, “[Executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker] and I talked about it at the very beginning about the similarities to sort of the classic westerns. I mean, we don’t have horses, we don’t have cowboy hats, we don’t have any of that stuff. Although, a cowboy hat episode would be pretty cool. But the idea of the single hero who comes in and reluctantly has to step in and do that.”

Of course, a vigilante cowboy isn’t going to be the right answer for everyone. As former NYPD officer Misty Knight (Simone Missick) tells Cage, “You might be bulletproof … but Harlem ain’t.”

“Luke Cage” premieres Sept. 30 on Netflix.
