Months back, when the official trailer for the “MacGyver” reboot hit the Internet, we were excited to see this new take on the classic show. Also, we had our trepidations. Is this new MacGyver supposed to have the snarky side-eye glance on lock? Because things felt a bit … off.

CBS then scrapped the entire pilot and brought James Wan in to create something new. Don’t get us wrong here, we love that! Wan may be known for his work on horror films like “Saw” and “The Conjuring,” but he’s proven himself in the action genre with 2015’s “Furious 7.”

Being a longtime fan of “MacGyver,” it completely makes sense that he was brought on in as both an executive producer and director. And, even though we have not seen any new footage from the re-shot episode, we did catch a glimpse at the new promotional one-sheet for the series the other day …

You see the similarities, right?

We’re assuming this was a clever nod to Wan’s work on the seventh chapter to the Vin Diesel franchise. And while we don’t have much to go on, is it safe to assume things are going to be … wait for it … supercharged? We sure as heck hope so.

“MacGyver” premieres Friday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
