A small bit of casting news out of "Pretty Little Liars" Tuesday (Aug. 9) has our "PLL"-loving minds whirling ... is this how the show continues after Season 7 ends?
Deadline reports that Ava Allan has been cast as Addison for Season 7b, which will premiere in 2017 (likely January) on Freeform. The description of Addison says that she's "a pretty little bully who’s attractive, entitled, manipulative and intimidating, and every insecure high school girl’s worst nightmare."
The key words in that sentence are "high school girl's." As "PLL" fans know, the Liars graduated five years ago and have moved on to their adult lives, which has many viewers wondering if the show will continue beyond the current season.
Nothing official has been announced, but the lead actors have made it known that they're ready to be done with the show -- and that's completely understandable. It's been seven years and they are ready to move on.
However, Freeform can't let a show as popular as "Pretty Little Liars" die without at least attempting to continue the franchise. The network has worked for years trying to find its next "Pretty Little Liars" -- "The Lying Game," "The Nine Lives of Chloe King," "Twisted," "Stitchers," "Guilt," "Dead of Summer" and even the "PLL" spinoff, "Ravenswood." None of these thriller/mystery shows have even sniffed the popularity of "PLL."
So what do you do? Try to continue the network's biggest show until you find its companion/replacement.
And it sounds like Ava Allan's Addison is the new Alison, reading to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting new group of Liars. Showrunner Marlene King previously told Zap2it that fans will know by the "end of the summer" whether the show is continuing after Season 7, but maybe fans know now?
"Pretty Little Liars" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Freeform.
