Let’s hope the “21 Jump Street” remake isn’t as annoying as the process one is asked to endure to see the movie’s new red band trailer. The tedium starts when one goes to the movie’s Facebook page to watch co-stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum bicker about who won the Twitter contest to present the trailer. Jonah apparently won.
But, we, the movie-goers interested in seeing the trailer may be the actual losers since the process is designed to drive one mad. Jonah insists that we “Like” the movie’s page in order to see the trailer. Clicking “Like” starts the entire gag reel over again, which we re-watched — it’s our job, after all — in the hopes that this time it would be followed by the promised trailer. It wasn’t. Unlike. Unlike. Unlike.
Luckily, Sony also posted the trailer to YouTube where one can watch it unmolested by Jonah and Channing and their Facebook shenanigans. Was it worth the trouble? You decide. We’d embed it here, but it’s R-rated. So, click here if you qualify as a member of a “mature audience” and aren’t easily disappointed.
‘The Muppets': A heck of an idea
In this new clip from the upcoming “Muppets” remake, Walter (a Muppet) has an idea that he thinks will help Jason Segel and Amy Adams (not Muppets) find Kermit the Frog. All we can say is that is involves meat by-products. Obviously, we’re on board.
‘Tree of Life': A shot at Oscar?
“Tree of Life,” the Terence Malick-directed drama starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt had a difficult time making it into theaters. Delays kept it from release in 2009 and 2010, but it finally premiered in May at the Cannes Film Festival, picking up the Palme d’Or no less. Now it’s out on DVD and FOX Searchlight really wants us — and the Academy — to take another look at the film. We think it’s worth it, so watch this featurette that attempts to ease us into the complicated story:
