Tracy’s continued absence prompts “TGS” to go into a forced hiatus, so while her fellow staffers flee for their respective Plan Bs, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is determined to still be a writer.
This make for several fantastic asides (including a flashback to 1992 Liz Lemon getting her car overturned in the LA riots), but the whole half-hour is made by a brief, brilliant cameo from Aaron Sorkin.
Jack (Alec Baldwin) urges Liz to take an interview with Nick Lachey at “The Sing-Off,” and in the waiting room, she recognizes a fellow applicant.
Cue Sorkinian camerawork!
Liz and Aaron traverse the NBC halls, like Josh and C.J. in the “West Wing,” trading quick observations about the failure of “Studio 60,” the death of the written word and our collective obsession with Angry Birds.
She doesn’t get the job on “The Sing Off,” but it doesn’t matter, because she figures out that Tracy isn’t actually in Africa. Now Liz doesn’t have to be the worst prostitute ever.
“It’s 500 for kissing 10,000 for snuggling. End of list.”
