ABC Family has decided to renew “Switched at Birth” for a fourth season. The Peabody Award-winning show has ranked as No. 1 cable series in its time slot for key female demographics.
The drama about two teenage girls that find out they were delivered home to the wrong families as babies will wrap up its third season on Monday, Aug. 18.
“Fans will be clamoring for Season 4 and to know what happens with Daphne and Bay after the Season 3 finale next week,” ABC Family President Tom Ascheim says in a press statement.
This past season the girls have had to deal with pending college applications and the death of Angelo Sorrento, Bay’s biological father. Angelo’s sudden death in a car accident that left him brain dead has affected the girls in drastically different ways. Bay has struggled to find more connection to her biological family as Daphne continues on a downward spiral of reckless behavior.
“Switched at Birth” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
