“American Idol” judge Keith Urban and his wife, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, both have incredibly busy, successful careers. That means they’re frequently separated by great distances. And that means they have to get creative to not only stay close as a family, but also to stay close as a couple. (Wink wink!)
Urban tells Ellen DeGeneres on the Monday, Oct. 28 episode of her talk show that he and his wife have to do some very creative scheduling
“I always structure my tours so that I’m never gone for weeks at a time,” he says. “I’ll do three shows in a row. Be home for three or four days, go back and do three or four shows, and that works out good until ‘Idol’ comes along and fills those days in between. And that is doable until then a film comes along and that shoots in London. And we’re like, ok. We’ll figure this out so we just make it work.”
Technology is helpful, but Urban says he and his wife mostly talk on the phone. “Never text, we never email,” he says. “Phone calls only. Which, I really love that. Maybe one text. Maybe one cool kind of you know…one of those kinds of text.”
What, praytell, is Urban referring to? “Nice, sext texting,” he admits as his face turns red.
