Cook, who finished seventh on Season 7 of “Idol” in 2008, is starring in a new series about her life, her music and big-game hunting called “Goin’ Country with Kristy Lee Cook.” It’s airing on cable channel Versus, home to National Hockey League regular-season games, the Tour de France and lots of outdoor shows.
Cook is also trying to bag a new record deal along with whitetail deer and pheasant. The show features her going out in search of hunting trophies with the likes of fellow “Idol” finalist Blake Lewis and singer Aaron Tippin, as well as giving a glimpse into her own life and music she’s currently working on. Cook and her label, Arista Nashville, parted ways after she released her first album, “Why Wait,” in late 2008; she’s currently looking for a new label.
“Goin’ Country” debuted Sunday (Aug. 1) on Versus.
