When Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj got together on “American Idol,” they appeared to start sniping at each other right from the get-go. Apparently, it started in the elevator on the way to the first day of auditions.
Once in the audition room, they fought about Nicki’s hat — Mariah snarks, “We can have accessories, I didn’t know that was allowed.” They fought about “Mean Girls” quotes — “I wanna lose three pounds.” They fought with their competing British accents (yeah, we know. Weird.).
In fact, at one point Nicki says through clenched teeth, “She’s a b****, she’s a b****, she’s a b****” and Mariah shoots back, “If she called me something that starts with a ‘b’ and ends in an ‘itch,’ I rebuke it.”
The one thing they didn’t really fight about, though, was the contestants. They never really had to go to the mattresses about anyone — they were either both yesses or both nos.
Overall, the entire thing was a lot less fireworks-heavy than we were expecting considering how hyped up this so-called “feud” has been. Maybe in other audition cities it gets worse? Nicki did just say she’s worried about the live shows.
Nicki’s parting shot in the premiere was, “I had to struggle with one of the divas on the panel. But I won’t tell you who.”
What did you think, “American Idol” fans?
