Howard Stern was certain to shake up the “America’s Got Talent” judging panel, but when Howie Mandel and Nick Cannon spoke with Zap2it just before the “AGT” debut on Monday, May 14, the pair said Stern was not nearly as insensitive and blunt as you’d think he’d be.
Stern has adjusted “very quickly and rapidly,” Cannon says. “He’s doing great.”
Mandel is excited just by the fact that Stern signed on in the first place. “The fact that he said okay to this,” he says, “it’s exciting, it’s thrilling, people are coming out in throngs.”
As a judge, Cannon says Stern is top-notch. “He’s every emotion you could imagine. I think that’s what actually makes him a great judge,” he says. “You’re going to see him be extremely compassionate. Howard Stern has to tell a 6-year-old they weren’t good, [and] he handles it brilliantly.”
“And then he comes to work and does the show,” deadpans Mandel.
