There is much ado on the internet this week regarding Tim Poe, a man who auditioned for “America’s Got Talent” on Monday’s (June 4) episode of the summer reality talent show. His pre-audition video package told a story of a military officer who served in Afghanistan and suffered brain damage as the result of a grenade attack.
But then it started to look as though Poe may have not been telling the whole truth. In a statement to Yahoo, the Minnesota National Guard said, “Sgt. Poe’s official military records do not indicate that he was
injured by a grenade in combat while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, as
The Associated Press could also not find any records to substantiate Sgt. Poe’s claims. Now TMZ is reporting that the photo used in the pre-audition video of Poe in uniform is not Poe at all, but Staff Sgt. Norman Bone, who had the photo brought to his attention by both his ex-wife and a friend. The photo is above.
Bone tells TMZ,”I’m absolutely furious. Been seeing red all day.”
And the original place the photo was posted is at the Department of Defense website, which correctly captions the photo as being of Staff Sgt. Bone.
Kind of a weird deal all around. So far, Poe, the show and NBC have all remained mum on the subject. The video segment of Poe’s audition is below.
