The former “SNL” stars negotiated their way into quite a considerable payday for their return as hosts of the Golden Globes for the next two years, Radar Online reports. According to a Hollywood production source, both Poehler and Fey will take home as much as $4 million each time they host.
“Tina and Amy decided to ask for the craziest package ever given to awards hosts,” the source says, adding that the two began negotiating back in March. “They are each being paid more than any Oscar host in history with the exception of Billy Crystal.” (Crystal took home nearly $5 million to host the 2012 Oscars, according to the report, while first-timers usually earn closer to $2 million.)
The source elaborated: “Tina and Amy will each make $4 million on the deal, but also they are getting a huge perks package that includes use of the NBC/Comcast private planes as they prep for the awards and full freight on their entourages, who will all be backstage to support [them] during the live broadcasts.”
It didn’t stop there, however. “Also, Tina wants her husband Jeff [Richmond] to be involved in the musical packaging of the Globes, which is a separate seven-figure deal that is still being worked out,” the source said. “They basically saw how desperate NBC was for their help and decided to take them for a ride.”
Poehler and Fey brought in 19.7 million viewers for the 2013 telecast, which was a six-year high for the Golden Globes, more than proving their worth, it seems.
