Sure she co-hosted the evening and also took home her first trophy for “Parks and Recreation,” but Amy Poehler‘s walking away from the 71st Annual Golden Globes with a different memory as the highlight of her night.
Speaking with reporters backstage on Sunday (Jan. 12), Poehler admitted that it was a more intimate memory that’s ranking high for her: “Kissing Bono.”
Her makeout session with the U2 frontman after she was revealed to be the winner of the Best Actress — TV Musical or Comedy award was one of the funnier unscripted moments of the evening — one that seemed to catch Bono off guard, even.
He wasn’t the only one caught off guard, however. Poehler admitted to being completely surprised by her victory. “I really didn’t expect to win,” she said. “Every actress says that but I didn’t because I have never won. I have been here many times at awards shows. So I don’t really remember my speech, and being that I knew it was live television and we were four minutes over, I tried to keep it short.”
As for her plans for her hardware, the comedienne said, “I told my son I might win an award tonight. He said, ‘How big is it? He might be impressed by the size. I’ll give it to Archie, my oldest, and he’ll give it to Abel when he can hold it.”
