How happy was Angelina Jolie‘s childhood? And was her upbringing why she had drug and behavior problems as a teen and is now a devoted mother?
Andrew Morton‘s latest tell-all — “Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography” — claims Jolie’s teenage drug use, self-cutting, love of knives and her free-wheeling bisexual love life stemmed from childhood abandonment issues.
]]>Krisann Morel, Jolie’s late mother Marcheline Bertrand virtually abandoned Angie after a painful 1976 split from husband Jon Voight. Morel claims that Bertrand kept Jolie in a separate
apartment in her building for two years. The young girl was cared for by a
revolving staff of nurses, nannies and baby sitters.
This is a far cry from the loving and devoted mother Angelina
describes. But perhaps she doesn’t have memories that go back that far.
Jolie has publicly maintained devotion to Bertrand, who died of cancer in
January 2007. But Morton concludes (without ever having even met the actress) that Jolie was permanently
scarred by this early treatment — leading her to develop a “come here, now
go away” personality.
Jolie was at Comic-Con Thursday (July 22), rocking a black leather jacket and slim skirt, for a “Salt” panel. “There’s something a little bit off about her,” she told the audience about her film spy character. “And maybe there’s a little something off about me too, so it’s a good match.”
Not at Comic-Con? Brad Pitt. The “Megamind” star sent a cardboard cutout of himself to join Tina Fey, Will Ferrell and Jonah Hill at the Dreamworks panel.
“Unfortunately, since Angelina’s here, Brad had to watch the kids,”
