Paquin and Kristen Bell have signed on to roles in “Scream 4,” Dimension Films says. The two actresses have taken roles the long-in-the-making sequel, which is shooting in Michigan for release in April 2011.
There’s no word yet on what they’re doing in the movie, which reunites original cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette and introduces new characters played by Hayden Panettiere, Alison Brie, Adam Brody, Marley Shelton and Erik Knudson. The “Scream” series has featured its share of cameos, going back to Drew Barrymore getting killed in the opening of the first film, so their characters could very well be in peril.
Both Paquin and Bell have horror movies on their resumes. In addition to starring in “True Blood,” Paquin appeared in the 2008 movie “Trick ‘r Treat,” and Bell starred in “Pulse” in 2006.
The movie went through rewrites as production started, with “Scream 3” scribe Ehren Kruger taking over for Kevin Williamson. Its release date has remained firm, however.
