In a discussion about the lack of openly gay CEOs on CNBC’s “Squawk On the Street” segment, one of the panelists appeared to accidentally out Apple head Tim Cook.
New York Times columnist James R. Stewart was discussing a column in which he’d tried to contact gay CEOs at major companies, but none would speak to him.
“I think Tim Cook is fairly open about the fact that he’s gay at the head of Apple, isn’t he?” asked co-anchor Simon Hobbs, to a silent reception. “Oh dear, was that an error? I thought not,” he immediately said.
Stewart responded, “I don’t want to comment about anybody who might or might not be gay.” Watch the segment below.
