Chrystal Workman might claim that she’s trying to do what’s best for her daughter Ariel Winter, but all the hoopla surrounding the “Modern Family” star’s allegations of abuse against her mother is dragging her name through the mud. Not long after Winter, 14, was removed from her mother’s home and placed in the care of her sister, actress Shanelle Gray, Workman filed a police report that claimed she caught her her daughter having unlawful sex with her 18-year-old boyfriend, Cameron Palatas.
Well, it shouldn’t come as much of a shock to learn that the couple has now broken up. At the time of the report, Workman had claimed her daughter and Palatas had been dating for five months but that she had “attempted to break them up because of their age difference.” It seems like it worked, as a source close to Winter has confirmed to E! News that the two have indeed split.
When asked whether she had a boyfriend during an interview at the Ronald McDonald Camp Halloween Party at the end of October, Winter admitted, “Um, I don’t have one. … Not at the moment. We’re just friends,” so it sounds to us like the couple called it quits not long after Workman caught them together on Sept. 24. For her part, Workman thinks her daughter’s abuse allegations are just her way of trying to get back with Palatas.
“Ariel is rebelling and using this Guardianship to get out from underneath my guidance and supervision to her sister’s care, which would in essence allow her to continue her relationship with Cameron,” Workman said on Oct. 3.
