Plot: In order to make the company look good, Michael (Jason Bateman) decides they should build a new model home. Gob (Will Arnett), however, messes up the plan by promising the house in two weeks. So they just build the outside. At the big ribbon-cutting ceremony, the house frame falls down.
Buster (Tony Hale) somehow joins the army, mostly so that he won’t see Lucille (Jessica Walter) and Oscar (Jeffrey Tambor) having sex. Lindsay (Portia de Rossi) dates a homeless man who turns out to be actor Thomas Jane. Tobias (David Cross), meanwhile, spies on Lindsay by camouflaging himself in front of blue backgrounds. George Sr., who is tired of being with Kitty (Judy Greer) anyway, gets arrested first for marijuana sale (Oscar’s crime) and then for having marketed the cornballer.
Bluth Company status: Michael has to pretend that the company is making money. Also, Gob is in charge. Obviously, things are not going so well.
Secondary characters introduced: This episode marks the first time Mae Whitman (“Parenthood”) played Ann Veal (Alessandra Torresani played the role in Season 1). Mo Collins (“Parks and Recreation”) is introduced as business model, Starla.
Notable guest stars: Thomas Jane appears as himself playing a homeless man for research.
Milestones: The “Mission Accomplished” banner appears for the first time at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new model home.
Huge mistakes: George Sr. says “I’ve made a huge mistake” when he realizes that running off to Mexico with Kitty was a mistake.
Best narrator commentary: “Gob charged at Michael with his scissors. But Michael, as he always did, picked rock… Which beat scissors. Unfortunately, the whole incident was covered by the paper.”
Next on “Arrested Development”: “Lindsay finds out the true identity of her homeless man…” “I’m Tom Jane.” “And even though Lindsay doesn’t know who that is, hearing that he isn’t homeless is good enough for her.” But he rejects her and falls into Tobias’ diamond dust-covered arms.
