“Bad Teacher” is going from the big screen to the small screen with a 13 episode order from CBS.
CBS presented their fall schedule to advertisers last week but they warned their may be more series orders coming, and “Teacher” had been rumored to be in that mix. The half hour comedy stars Ari Graynor (“For a Good Time, Call…”; “The Sitter”) in the role of a foul-mouthed, golddigging, entirely appropriate teacher played by Cameron Diaz in the 2011 comedy hit.
That film was notably R-rated, so we’re sure the CBS version will take on a slightly different tone. Of course, CBS is used to pushing the envelope with risque comedies including hits “Two and a Half Men” and “2 Broke Girls.”
“Bad Teacher” is one of three single camera comedies picked up by CBS this year, which usually sticks to more traditional multi-camera comedies filmed in front of a studio audience.
The “Teacher” cast also includes Sara Gilbert (who will continue her daytime duties on CBS’ “The Talk”), David Alan Grier, Ryan Hansen and Kristin Davis.
