Barbara Palvin may have been a brand new name to those who read up on Justin Bieber‘s post-fashion show exploits with the Hungarian born Victoria’s Secret model — exploits that reportedly led Selena Gomez to drop him like a hot potato. But pay attention because, whether Gomez likes it or not, Palvin’s is likely to be a face you’ll be seeing for a while.
Photographers and marketing execs have taken notice of Palvin’s remarkable chemistry with the lens. “When I’m in front of the camera, I don’t know what happens to me,” she says. “I just totally change.”
The 19-year-old ambassador for L’Oreal Paris speaks of her confidence on-screen in a behind-the-scenes look at her commercial shoot for Victoria’s Secret Holiday 2012. Michael Bay directed the spot, which is Palvin’s first commercial for the brand.
Modeling barely there lingerie, Palvin says even her mother doesn’t recognize her on-camera persona, telling her, “When the camera is on you’re not my daughter anymore.” Barbara says, “I am, Mom. I’m just acting.”
Making her debut in The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was a monumental moment in the young model’s life. After she walked the runway, Barbara says she could finally let go of her nerves.
“I was nervous, actually,” says Palvin. “I didn’t have any expression on my face before. I was just like, ‘almost there, almost there.’ But then when I got done, it was just so good.”
It’s been well documented that Palvin’s next move was to step out with Bieber to see the Lion King on Broadway, which she tweeted about with a heart. But after the Gomez split hub-bub erupted, Palvin tweeted, “hey everyone. please calm down. he is all yours!!”
