Barbara Walters finally addressed the retirement rumors that have been swirling since last week. “The View” co-creator used the talk show as a platform to say that she wasn’t ready to talk about her potential retirement just yet.
“There were many reports last week saying that I was retiring from ABC, and there was an assumption that I would be making an announcement today,” she said on “The View.” “However, here I am, and I have no announcement to make. But I do want to say this: That if and when I might have an announcement to make, I will do it on this program, I promise.”
Walters stated that paparazzi had been camped outside of her house following the report of her 2014 retirement, and added, “The paparazzi guys, you will be the last to know.”
Rumors of Walters’ retirement started with a report saying that 2014 will be Walters’ last year on “The View.” The year will allegedly be filled with tributes to “more than half a century in broadcasting,” The Hollywood Reporter says. In addition, 2014 will allegedly mark a transition of hosts on “The View.”
