The response of the TV-watching public to the return of “Beavis and Butt-head” is pretty much this: “Heh-heh. Cool.”
The show, which had been off the air since 1997, returned to MTV Thursday night (Oct. 27) to a pretty good-sized audience. It drew 3.3 million viewers, and about two-thirds of them were young men, which advertisers love because they’re considered a hard-to-reach demographic.
MTV says “Beavis and Butt-head” is now its No. 2 series among guys under 35, behind “Jersey Shore” (which Mike Judge‘s creations now spend part of their time mocking).
The strong premiere for “Beavis” also helped new animated series “Good Vibes” draw decent numbers Thursday night. Its premiere scored 1.6 million viewers, a little above the average for series premieres on MTV.
Here’s a piece of the next episode of “Beavis and Butt-head,” which airs at 10 p.m. ET Thursday, Nov. 3.
