“Benched,” a new comedy coming to USA this summer, has cast three guest stars. “Saturday Night Live” alums Molly Shannon and Chris Parnell and former “Community” star Yvette Nicole Brown will all appear in the first season of the show.
As first announced by The Hollywood Reporter, the three actors will join previously announced guest stars Jim Rash (“Community”) and Nat Faxon (“Ben and Kate”) on the single-camera, legal comedy. Eliza Coupe (“Happy Endings”) stars as a high-flying corporate attorney who has a public breakdown and ends up as a public defender. Her new job pairs her up with another, very different lawyer, played by Jay Harrington (“Better Off Ted”).
Shannon will appear as Judge Conner, a sexy and mature judge who is either predatory or flirtatious. Parnell will play another public defender, Mitch from Pasadena, who is described as a schmoozer. Brown, meanwhile, has the role of Donna, a courthouse clerk who loves bureaucracy and its rules.
It is not yet known if these guest-starring roles are for single episodes or if they will recur.
