Five core cast members of “The Big Bang Theory” haven’t signed new contracts yet, but CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler doesn’t sound particularly worried about that.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, stars Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki are looking for as much as $1 million per episode on TV’s top-rated comedy, while Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg are also looking for raises. Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik are already under contract.
Nonetheless, Tassler feels good that contract talks will end happily. “I just love being able to answer these questions year after year — primarily because we have successful shows, and when you have successful shows, you have renegotiations,” she said Thursday (July 17) at the TV critics’ summer press tour. “We’re feeling very confident that everything will work out. These deals manage to get done somehow miraculously year after year.”
CBS renewed “The Big Bang Theory” for three seasons back in March, bud did so without new deals in place for most of the cast. Production on Season 8 is set to begin at the end of July, and THR says the cast is expected to report to work regardless of whether negotiations are finished.
