Things aren’t exactly heating up on the live feeds, though the “Big Brother 16” cast is pretty entertaining to watch just hang out with each other. There are a few interesting developments, however — keep reading to find out what, but be warned about spoilers.
So, the Team America twist is barely out of the gate and has already hit a snag. Joey, the first member of this secret alliance that America gets to control, is going home this week.
Yep, that’s right. It’s the Saboteur all over again.
Now, sure, a lot can happen between Tuesday (July 1) and the live eviction on Thursday, but if you’ve been watching the live feeds, you know it’s pretty much hopeless. Joey, the person we thought could go all the way, has completely misplayed her first couple weeks in the house. She outed her all-girls alliance and made herself an easy target, and now that she’s been put up on the block as Donny’s replacement (because Donny won the POV), Joey is out the door.
What does this mean for the twist? We don’t know yet. The game could just continue with the other two people the voters choose, or the show could still try to have a three-person alliance on Team America. But either way, the show hopefully has learned its lesson via this Joey debacle and will name the team members ASAP.
I thought from the beginning that waiting three whole weeks to name the alliance was a dangerous idea, because what if someone got voted out? And that’s exactly what happened. If the show had named the alliance right away, the other two members would be working to keep Joey in the house.
In fact, I’m a little surprised CBS hasn’t taken the votes cast after last Thursday’s episode and told that person about Team America and then, I don’t know, had the live feed-watchers vote on the third person so that the two team members could be working on the house to keep Joey. It would at least make for a more interesting week, since things are super quiet in the house now that everybody is voting out Joey and she knows it.
*headsmack* Did no one anticipate this happening?
The only mildly interesting thing happening so far is that Head of Household Caleb is obsessed with Amber. Like, obsessed. Since the night the live feeds came on, he has been moping around, talking to everyone (except Amber, for a while) about how in love with her he is. In love, you guys. Ready to get married and get with the baby-makin’.
Everyone has kind of been humoring him, but he finally decided that he needed to tell Amber about his feelings, which was a painful conversation. If you’re interested, it all starts at just after 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT on the feeds Sunday morning (June 29). Caleb professes his love and Amber says the two worst (but funniest, in this situation) things in response: “Thank you” and “I want to be friends.”
But that’s really not good enough for Caleb and he continues to insist that they can have something real outside the house and she’s only saying those things because she doesn’t want a “showmance.”
But the creme de la creme came Monday night (or early Tuesday morning) at 4:06 a.m. ET/1:06 a.m. PT on camera 3. Caleb talks to Devin about how Amber would like him if “if [he] was just a little darker.” Oh, Caleb. We can categorically say that that is not a true statement.
We’ve seen some obsessed ladies in the “Big Brother” house, but obsessed fellas is rarer. This is quite a treat, we can’t wait to see how CBS edits this bout of crazypants behavior.
“Big Brother’s” next new episode is Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
