Is Bill Clinton going to become the next U.S. ambassador to Ireland? Not so, says his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Politico has a quote from Clinton when she was asked about the rumors that claim her husband is itching for the US ambassadorship to Ireland while she was visiting Emerald Isle recently. She quickly laughed them off and claims that they don’t seem to have any truth.
“I cannot comment on what President Obama might do in the second term – obviously, it’s his decision,” she says. “But I would think that my husband will be here [Ireland] many times in the future doing the work that he’s been doing without having to have the title of ambassador.”
The rumors were started after the former president recently visited Ireland for the third time this year and said that he “could run for president of Ireland” if only he had a house there.
