It’s not uncommon for things to get heated on “The View,” but Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar came to the end of their ropes on today’s Oct. 14 show when Bill O’Reilly stopped by to discuss his new book, “Pinheads and Patriots” and forgot to distinguish between the general Muslim population and extremist terrorists.

The show took an ugly turn when O’Reilly explained why he feels Americans are losing faith in President Obama.

“They see a widening gulf between the President and them, personally,” the Fox News host says. “Let me give you an example. The mosque. The mosque down here, on 9/11, that’s inappropriate. Sure, they have a right to do it, and in the constitution, but it’s inappropriate because a lot of the 9/11 families who I know say ‘We don’t want that.’ And there’s the president, saying, ‘Well, they have a right to do it!'”

]]>Barbara Walters, protested. “This is America!” Behar exclaims. “Hold it. Listen to me, because you’ll learn,” O’Reilly interrupts. Ouch. Even the in-studio audience was shocked by his tone – and Behar gave him “bunny ears” and called him a “pinhead.” Goldberg points out that 70 Muslim families lost people in the World Trade Center on 9/11, but O’Reilly says that Americans expected more from Obama. The final straw for Behar and Goldberg was when they asked O’Reilly why the mosque was inappropriate and he said, “Because Muslims killed us on 9/11.” Goldberg’s curses were bleeped out. “I don’t want to sit here. I don’t. I’m outraged by that statement,” Behar said, standing up and leaving the stage with Goldberg. Perhaps the biggest surprise was that through the entire discussion, we heard nary a peep from Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
