ABC is ringing in 2014 with Billy Joel, who will perform the first song of the new year after the clock strikes midnight on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.” The singer will perform one of his classic hits live from Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, according to ABC.
Seacrest is hosting the annual show alongside “The View” co-host Jenny McCarthy, while Fergie will host the Los Angeles side of the celebration. Performers include Blondie, Capital Cities, Miley Cyrus, Daughtry, Jason Derulo, Fall Out Boy, Florida Georgia Line, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Icona Pop, Enrique Iglesias, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Robin Thicke and The Fray — in other words, something for everyone.
Joel also just announced a new residency at Madison Square Garden — he’ll play there once a month “as long as there’s demand,” which, according to iPods around the world, will probably be forever. So far, dates are scheduled through May 2014.
Now, the important question: Which song will ring in the new year?
The show starts at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
