“Bones” is entering its 10th season this fall, and its two leads are entering the last year of their current contracts. Still, FOX would like to see the show continue beyond 2014-15.
“I hope that this year is not the last year,” Peter Rice, chairman and CEO of the FOX Networks Group, said Sunday (July 20) at the summer TV press tour. “It’s a fantastic series that has famously moved all over our schedule, it’s done that for 10 years.”
The show’s ability to draw an audience almost everywhere it has aired could work in its favor. On the possible downside, stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz are entering the last years of their respective deals.
“It’s Emily and David’s last year contractually, so we’ll have to have that conversation with them as well,” Rice says. “But I hope that will come back.”
Season 10 of “Bones” premieres Thursday, Sept. 25.
