How can a bunch of aging surgically-enhanced action movie has-beens beat the pants off America’s sexy comedy sweetheart Jennifer Aniston?
That’s what happened this weekend when Sylvester Stallone‘s “The Expendables” — about a team of over-the-hill mercenaries (Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eric Roberts, Steve Austin) — stayed at No. 1 with $16.5 million.
But Jennifer’s “The Switch” — about a woman whose drunken male pal switches her donor’s sperm sample for his at her insemination bash — came in at No. 8 with only $8.1 mill on opening weekend.
]]>Barbra Streisand Harpers Bazaar photos, the interview with Chelsea Handler about vodka and chasing men, the battle of wits with an unarmed Bill O’Reilly over artificial insemination, and even an embarrassing slip of the tongue when she referred to herself as a “retard” on the “Live! with Regis and Kelly” show. All for naught. To make it worse, “The Switch” also got beat by “Nanny McPhee,” “Piranha 3D,” “The Other Guys,” “Lottery Ticket,” “Vampires Suck,” and “Eat Pray Love.” Yes, this may mean that more people wanted to see Jerry O’Connell‘s member get munched by prehistoric fish and Emma Thompson‘s hairy nose warts than Jennifer being artificially inseminated. Anyway, we’re just glad that Jen is back on network TV, guest-starring with her “Friends” pal Courtney Cox on the premiere of the second season of “Cougar Town”, airing on Sept 22. We can’t wait! Fellow “Friends” star Lisa Kudrow has already been on “Cougar Town” too. Who’s next? David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry? How about Matt LeBlanc? We miss Ross, Joey and Chandler.
