One of the world’s most famous couples has finally made it official after being together nearly a decade. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie tied the knot this past weekend in France, a representative for the couple tells the Associated Press.
The ceremony took place Saturday (Aug. 23) in Chateau Miraval, France at a small chapel in a private ceremony with only family and close friends in attendance. The local California judge who issued the marriage license conducted the nondenominational civil ceremony.
The couple share six children, who all took part in the ceremony. Jolie’s eldest sons, Maddox, 13, and Pax, 11, walked her down the aisle, while daughters Zahara and Vivienne, both 6, acted as flower girls. Daughter Shiloh, 8, and son Knox, 6, were ring bearers.
This is Pitt’s second marriage and Jolie’s third. He was previously married to “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005, and she was previously married to “Elementary” star Jonny Lee Miller from 1996 to 1999 and “Fargo’s” Billy Bob Thornton from 2000 to 2003.
