Last year, “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan said in an interview that the show he’d most like to do a crossover episode with is “Mythbusters.” Monday night (Aug. 12), he gets his wish.
The Discovery Channel show takes on some of the science of “Breaking Bad” in a special airing at 10 p.m. ET Monday, a day after the AMC show began its final eight episodes. Gilligan and star Aaron Paul join Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman and the “Mythbusters” crew to talk through the experiments, as you can see in the clip above.
One thing you won’t learn on the special: how to cook methamphetamine. Gilligan and the show’s writers have often said they leave a couple steps out of the process they show on TV, and at any rate, “Mythbusters” isn’t in the business of teaching people how to make illegal drugs.
Instead, the show tests a couple of moments from “Breaking Bad’s” first season: Whether hydrofluoric acid would burn through a bathtub, floor and ceiling as it did in the episode “Cat’s in the Bag,” and if mercury fulminate is as effective an explosive as depicted in “Crazy Handful of Nothin’.” Early results on the second one are pretty promising, as you can see in the video below.
