The BBC and BBC America are making good on the on-screen promise that “‘Broadchurch’ will return” at the end of its first season.
BBC America announced Wednesday (July 9) at its TV press tour session that Season 2 of the crime drama will air in early 2015. Stars David Tennant (who’s also starring in “Gracepoint,” FOX’s adaptation of “Broadchurch”) and Olivia Colman will return, along with Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Arthur Darvill.
They’ll be joined by new cast members Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, James D’Arcy, Eve Myles and Phoebe Walter-Bridge.
“We can’t wait to see” what creator Chris Chibnall comes up with for the second season. Season 1 had Tennant’s and Colman’s characters investigating the death of a young boy over the course of eight episodes while also examining the effects it had on the small town of Broadchurch.
With several cast members returning, it’s probably safe to assume some of Season 2 will deal with the continued fallout from the case.
