Cal Worthington, the TV pitchman who promoted his car dealership with creative ads featuring his “dog spot,” has died at 92 years old. Worthington died Sunday (September 8), while watching football at his home in Central California.
Worthington’s “Go See Cal” commercials gained him fame in states where they ran, as he played with wild animals, which he always called his “dog Spot.” According to the LA Times, the idea was actually meant to mock his early competitors, who would appears in commercials with dogs. The ads ran from the 1960s to the 1990.
