Whether you love or hate the idea of a new film based on Stephen King’s classic coming of age horror novel “Carrie,” it’s happening and now there’s a teaser trailer to prove it.
Chloe Grace Moretz of “Kick-Ass” and “Hugo” fame plays the tormented title character and Julianne Moore co-stars as her religious zealot nightmare of a mom. Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie earned Oscar nominations in the same roles when they starred in Brian De Palma’s 1976 film based on King’s novel. That version still holds up today, but there’s nothing to say a 21st Century “Carrie” can’t find its own place in the world.
The new “Carrie” is directed by Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry”), written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Glee”) and also stars Judy Greer, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde and Portia Doubleday. We’ll get a chance to see if it can deliver the goods when it opens March 15, 2013.
Before then take a look at the very brief teaser below from Yahoo! Movies Canada, which seems to have been put together using key dialogue from the film and only a fleeting glimpse of Moretz in character.
