Carrie Underwood is joining the ever-growing list of stars who have pledged money to the disaster relief efforts in the wake of the deadly tornado that destroyed Moore, Okla. earlier this week.
Underwood, a native of Checotah, Okla., a town about two hours east of Moore, is donating $1 million from her current tour to the American Red Cross in its efforts to help the people of Moore in their recovery.
“I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness. With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornadoes,” says Underwood in a statement.
We would imagine if she can make it, Underwood will also take part in Blake Shelton’s relief aid concert planned to air on NBC.
Other celebrities contributing to the efforts include Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant and Oklahoma native Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
