The drama surrounding ailing Casey Kasem’s care began last October, when his three grown children filed for conservatorship and went public with their assertions that his wife, Jean (“Cheers”), their stepmother, had been keeping the voice actor and famous radio DJ from his children for years.
The latest chapter is that now Jean Kasem has reportedly removed her husband from the country and no one knows their whereabouts, according to the Associated Press.
Monday (May 12) a judge ordered a court investigator and adult protective services to locate Kasem, who suffers from advanced Parkinson’s disease. The order came after testimony from Jean’s lawyer Craig Marcus, saying that all he knows is that Kasem has been removed from the U.S. but he does not know to where.
In a court filing, daughter Kerri Kasem asserts that Jean has repeatedly moved their father without informing the children and that they have not been allowed to see him. The complaint alleges elder abuse on the part of Jean.
Kerri tells the AP that the judge ordering an investigation means that perhaps the truth about her father’s care and situation will finally come out.
