If you’ve read “Catching Fire,” you know that things get pretty serious between Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in the second installment of “The Hunger Games.” If you haven’t read the book yet, considering this your spoiler alert to not keep reading this story.
There’s one scene in particular that fans are desperate to see in the “Catching Fire” film: Peeta’s proposal to Katniss. But just like it wasn’t the ideal situation in the novel, Josh Hutcherson explains in a new interview that the climactic proposal scene didn’t go quite as he planned.
“When we shot it, the actual proposal itself is done where you don’t hear what we’re saying, so I was just saying gibberish while I was proposing to her on one knee,” he tells MTV News. “Actually, the very first time I went to get down on one knee my pants ripped right down the crotch. The worst thing that could happen when you’re proposing to somebody is that your pants rip right down the crotch, and that’s what happened to Peeta. So … he’s doomed. He’s doomed. Poor guy, he just can’t catch a break.”
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is due out on Nov. 22, 2013.
