Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has made no secret of her struggles with Bipolar II disorder, a milder form of being bipolar that does include drastic mood changes, but the highs aren’t quite as manic and the lows aren’t quite as depressive as more severe forms of the disorder.
Zeta-Jones was treated for the disorder just over two years ago, when she checked into a “mental health facility for a brief stay” while she sought treatment. Now TMZ is reporting that Zeta-Jones is being treated once again.
Sources say the reportedly 30-day program is a proactive measure — “maintenance” to help her cope with the mental illness.
One has to applaud her for being so open about her trouble with the mood disorder. Perhaps she will inspire more people who need help to seek it out.
