The inaugural YouTube Music Awards show was an extremely loosely organized affair, with hosts Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts wandering the space at Pier 36 in New York City and not working with a set script. The performances, though, were much tighter.
Case in point: the “History of YouTube music” performance by the Cdza collective (the people behind the “History of Lyrics That Aren’t Lyrics” video). It ran through everything from Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” to Rebecca Black’s “Friday” to “What Does the Fox Say” with razor precision.
The highlight had to be the mixing of Black, Gotye, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ke$ha and others by Walk Off the Earth as they huddled around an oversized guitar. Watch the full performance:
