Before Chad Johnson was sent to jail for violating his probation, the former NFL star’s attorney had a plea arrangement all lined up for his client. But when Johnson decided to slap that male attorney on the behind during court proceedings, the judge went off.
Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh was going over the details of the plea agreement with Johnson when she told him he has “an excellent attorney.” On that, Johnson turned and gave said attorney a locker room-style slap on the butt, causing a ripple of giggles and snickers to erupt across the courtroom.
The judge, however, was not amused by Johnson’s shenanigans, asking, “Is there something funny about what’s going on here today? … I don’t think anything’s funny about it, Mr. Johnson.” McHugh raised her voice at Johnson, saying, “This isn’t a joke,” as he pleaded, “I didn’t mean it as a joke.”
McHugh then announced she would refuse to accept the plea negotiations and remanded Johnson to the Broward County Jail for 30 days.
Johnson tweeted, “Love me through the good and the bad because I’m gone love you regardless… See you in 30…”
Johnson is on probation through Dec. 2013 for a 2012 domestic violence incident involving then-wife Evelyn Lozada.
