Charlie Sheen is officially coming back to the small screen. FX has picked up his new sitcom, “Anger Management,” based on the Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler film of the same name.
Production is expected to begin in early 2012, with episodes premiering that summer. The first ten episodes will air on FX. If they’re successful, an additional 90 episodes — yes, you read that right — will be ordered, which will then be aired in syndication beginning in Fall 2014.
“We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie’s acting talents–and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play,” says John Landgraf, President and General Manager of FX Networks. “‘Two and a Half Men’ has been an outstanding component of FX’s schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that ‘Anger Management’ will soon be as well.”
Sheen will have an ownership stake in the series, in which he plays a therapist and anger management specialist who wreaks havoc on his patients’ lives.
