Apparently Chelsea Handler got in a bit of trouble with the Comcast higher-ups after cracking some “Today”-related jokes on her late night talk show.
It started because Al Roker admitted to “Dateline” that he once pooped his pants at the White House. Naturally, that news went a bit viral online.
Handler’s response on her show was, “This
isn’t the first time a ‘Today’ show cast member was in the news about
this sensitive subject. For years it was common knowledge that Matt
Lauer spent every morning s***ing all over Ann Curry.
According to the New York Post, Handler’s bosses did not enjoy that joke (Comcast owns both NBC and E!, where Handler’s show airs).
A source close to the show says, “Chelsea’s writers were warned to lay off Matt. They don’t want them making fun of Matt and the Ann Curry situation right now.”
When Curry was removed as “Today” co-host and replaced by Savannah Guthrie, one of the rumors flying about was that Lauer wanted Curry out.
HOwever, an E! spokesman tells the Post that Handler being warned off Lauer jokes is “absolutely false … no such request was made.”
