At long last, Chet Haze is back with another hot single. Haze, by the way, is the stage name of one Chester M. Hanks — son of mega-A-lister Tom Hanks — and when we say “hot single” we mean “Robin Thicke would be embarrassed to drop this track, but still it’s slickly produced.”
Chet Haze dropped the new single “Do It Better” on Tuesday (July 10) and it’s rife with lots of insightful lyrics like, “I need a couple cups of that/You and me is just a match” and “You the baddest girl around/and you let everybody know.” One can just imagine mom Rita Wilson — also arguably one of the baddest girls around — beaming with pride as her musically derivative son sings while showing off his swag and makes out with a hired Kardashian lookalike on a couch.
To get the general gist of where “Do It Better” falls in the continuum of celebrity (and celebrity-related) songs, think somewhere in the general vicinity of Melissa Gorga’s “On Display.” And that should be taken as a huge compliment because the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star actually made the iTunes charts when her basement-produced song debuted.
But even if Chet Haze doesn’t find similar chart-topping success, he can pat himself on the back for also reaching 10,000 follower mark on his Twitter account on Thursday.
So far dad Tom Hanks (4,430,664) hasn’t commented on the song via Twitter or anywhere else.
