There’s a good chance New Jersey Governor Chris Christie could run for president in 2016. Many expected him to vie for the presidential office during this election, but he admits why he didn’t challenge Republican candidates like Mitt Romney in 2012 in a new interview.
“I wasn’t ready to run for President this time. If [a 2016 presidential run] comes, I know that I will be more ready for it than I would have been this year,” he tells Conversations at NJPAC.
Just don’t expect Christie to slim down by then. During an interview with Barbara Walters for her “10 Most Fascinating People” special, he said that he’s not too fat to one day become president.
“I’ve done this job pretty well, and I think people watched me for the last number of weeks and Hurricane Sandy doing 18-hour days and getting right back up the next day and still being just as effective in the job,” he said. “So I don’t really think that would be a problem.”
