The paparazzo who died while tailing Justin Bieber‘s Ferrari on New Year’s Day has been reportedly revealed to be Chris Guerra, a man in his late 20s who moved to Los Angeles to be a photographer in March. He had been exclusively on the Biebs beat for the past few months, and was killed trying to snap images of Bieber pulled over by the California Highway Patrol.
TMZ learned Guerra’s identity, as well as the news that Bieber wasn’t even in the car. His 19-year-old rapper friend Lil Twist was the one behind the wheel when the car was pulled over. The duo was staying at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills after returning from a New Year’s Eve trip to Mexico, where they both are legally old enough to drink. Lil Twist posted an Instagram photo (above) showing the two of them drinking champagne on Dec. 31.
Guerra had reportedly been tailing Bieber’s Ferrari all day. After the vehicle was pulled over, Guerra crossed the street to try to take photos of the 18-year-old Canadian pop star, but was told by CHP to return to his car. When he was walking back across Sepulveda Blvd., he was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle. Charges are not expected to be filed against the driver.
