The inclusion of the upcoming film in this year’s festivities is a promising sign, since “Ant-Man” went through a rocky period earlier this year. In a surprising move, director and co-writer, Edgar Wright parted ways with the production after eight years of work, reportedly due to creative differences.
Now the film is back in action with Peyton Reed (“The Break-up,” “Bring It On”) signed on to direct the story of a powerful hero who can shrink to tiny sizes. Adam McKay (“Anchorman”) has also been locked down to rewrite the script started by Wright and Joe Cornish (“Attack the Block”).
“Ant-Man” is scheduled to finally start shooting in August with the original cast. As evident by the poster, Paul Rudd will play the lead role of Scott Lang, a thief who — if the story stays true to the comics — stole the technology behind the amazing, shrinking suit from the original “Ant-Man”, scientist, Hank Pym. Michael Douglas will portray the genius, Pym in the movie adaptation.
More on “Ant-Man” is expected to be revealed at Marvel’s presentation on Saturday, July 26 in San Diego.
