The slim chance that “Community” would find a home after being canceled by NBC is looking even slimmer now.
Following the cancellation, the show’s producer, Sony, started talks with Hulu about possibly doing a sixth season with the streaming site. Those talks have apparently not gone well: TVLine reports that Hulu has left the negotiations.
Sony is known for going to great lengths to keep its shows on the air. A year after dismissing “Community” creator Dan Harmon, it brought him back as showrunner for Season 5 to get the show close to the magical 100-episode mark (it ended with 97). A few years before that, the studio made a deal with FOX to keep “‘Til Death” on the air so it could bank enough episodes to be viable in syndication.
As such, Sony hasn’t given up on trying to keep “Community” going now. “Sony does not give up easily,” a source tells TVLine. “A lot can happen in one week.”
