It’s been a year since Cory Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room at the age of 31. Although “Glee” paid beautiful tribute to the actor throughout the show’s fifth season, he’s still a deeply missed part of the McKinley High ensemble.
On the anniversary of Monteith’s premature death — from a toxic mixture of drugs and alcohol — here are a few ways to remember the great things Monteith was able to do before he died. Below, information on three of the charities Monteith supported.
Project Limelight Society — Monteith was in Vancouver meeting with his agent and the founder of this organization just a few days before his death to discuss future plans for the charity. The program offers underprivileged Vancouver youth an opportunity for arts education and healthy meals.
Chrysalis — One of Monteith’s final public appearances was at the organization’s annual Butterfly Ball alongside girlfriend Lea Michele. The nonprofit organization helps homeless and low-income individuals find jobs.
Virgin Unite — Monteith was an ambassador for this nonprofit foundation of the Virgin Group, which helps support entrepreneurs around the world as they launch and grow businesses and also helps incubate Earth-friendly ideas for businesses to implement.
