Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13. Earlier reports indicated that the 31-year-old actor — who had a history of drug use in the years before his death — had succumbed to a drug overdose. First responders at the hotel noted drug paraphernalia, including a hypodermic needle and a spoon with drug residue, in the room. Two empty bottles of champagne were also present (as reported by TMZ).
The combination of heroin and alcohol led to Monteith’s death.
In the final coroner’s report, it was also noted that Cory Monteith had previously been sober during a springtime stint in rehab. His tolerance for drugs and alcohol may have been lower as a result.
Production on “Glee” Season 5 was delayed following Monteith’s death, and a special tribute episode, “The Quarterback,” will air on Thursday, Oct. 10.
